How long have you been fostering?
How many children in foster care have you had in your home?
How many of these children (if any) have you adopted?
What made you become a foster parent?
My wife and I had children from previous relationships and were unable to have children together. As our relationship grew, we felt it was time to bring more children into our life. We discussed how we could fulfill all our desires, and it was so obvious to us – become foster parents together. On 7/23/12 we finalized our first adoption (had our child) and Anthony “MD” Salera became our ninth child, because he is ours together. Now we are looking forward to our next adoption, our new daughter, Jaley.
What advice would you give to your fellow foster parents?
Our reasons are all different for becoming foster parents, but our end results are all the same: we have touched a child’s life, and they now have hope for a better life. There is no better advice than to believe in yourself and be able to see the impact we have in children’s lives.
What is the most important thing you would like the public to know about foster families?
That there are many great things happening for a lot of children, and there is so much more that needs to be accomplished.
How has embrella helped you as a foster parent?
I have very recently become more aware of embrella and was able to have a child take a summer camp retreat (received a Camp Scholarship)
If you could leave a message in a bottle for children in foster care, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid, we love you. As you come though our door and into our hearts, we promise to love you and help you forever.
